Visiting Artist: Lyra Hill

Lyra Hill is a multifaceted artist whose work spans performance, cartooning, video, and sound. She is the founder of Brain Frame, a group dedicated to performative comix reading.  We were fortunate to have the amazing Lyra Hill perform a new original piece during her visit to Schurz! She shared her comics, drawings and new space-themed performance piece using looping sounds, spoken text and a projected comic animation. She also previewed her new video "Uzi's Party"!

During Lyra's workshop, students played an interactive, improv-inspired game that resulted in mini performances. Through brainstorming different words, students chose 2-3 word phrases to act out. The experiment got everyone out of their comfort zone and had the whole class laughing!
